Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, was founded in the 13th century. During the 17th century, the city became world famous as the leading hub for trade and art (Golden Age). In the 1960s, it emerged as Europe’s magical centre.
Amsterdam has a highly individual, spirited and young-at-heart character. The locals are known for their friendly, tolerant and cosmopolitan nature; most speak at least two languages (English is almost always one of them). With inhabitants from 177 different cultures, Amsterdam is one of the top three most diverse cities in the world. The 17th century centre located around the 3 main Canals is well preserved and still echoes the grandeur of the Dutch Golden Age. The concert hall (Concertgebouw) is world famous for both its acoustics and its house orchestra. It is located near all top museums (the Rijksmuseum – Rembrandt, Dutch 17th century, the van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum of modern art), only 10 minutes from the RAI.
As Amsterdam is a surprisingly compact city with excellent public transport, traveling around is quick and easy. Amsterdam is the ideal place for planning an extra informal meeting with your colleagues! For instance, in one of the 51 museums, many of them within walking distance of the city centre, or in one of the 25 beautiful old courtyards, 1215 pavement cafés or 55 theatres. There are over 350 hotels and many opportunities for apartment rent.
The get-together will be held on September 16th at Strand Zuid, an inner city beach-resort only 5 minutes walk from the venue.
The social dinner will be held at the ”Rode Hoed”, a 17th century shelder church located on one of the famous canals in the center of Amsterdam. Attendees can book a canal cruise to the Rode Hoed venue as a supplement.
